How do you reset the day of the week on a GE cordless phone/answering machine?

I have a GE cordless phone/answering machine, miniature # 27909EE. I have no problem setting the time, but it always states the malfunction day of the week. How do I correct the day of the week? (I have studied the owners enchiridion and it is no help.)

The slippery way would be to remove the internal battery that holds the memory figures. If you did it on Monday, and the phone thinks that Monday is the first day of the week, it may reset.

I have done that to cars before to reset the shiver
