If I have 1 phone in the kitchen & 1 phone in the bedroom...?

Phone in Kitchen died- the other 1 in the bed live died- it this possible ? My husband thinks that if 1 dies the other one should be ok. I say no- they are connected, like Siamese twins. 1 dies- they both die. Can anyone helpers with an answer? Thanks.
Were they on the same specialty? That is, did the same phone number ring both phones?
If so, then there probably isn't anything wrong with the phone, but rather something strange with the line. It is likely disconnected somewhere, or
