What happens if you use 10 mil laminating pouches in a 5 mil laminating machine?

I'm looking for a laminating machine that can accomodate 10 mil thickness, but they all seem equitably expensive. So I was wondering, would it be catastrophic to use a 5 mil machine? Or would it not come out at all? Thanks.
